(NOMINATION FOR 2016 AUREA AWARD): Digital Logic - Multifunctional Contactless NFC 2DQR Barcode Reader

Pozarevac-based Digital Logic developed a specially-designed multi-function contactless reader for 2DQR codes, NFC cards and tags, as well as NFC phone. All these options in one place and the way they are integrated make NFC 2DQR BARCODE READER currently unique in the world.

The first prototypes were successfully tested during 2015 within ticketing and access control system at the swimming pools, as well as systems for electronic ticketing in public transport and will soon be available in direct sales (necessary prototypes testing of one year).

These devices can be used wherever there is a need to control access or presence records in: museums, concert halls, sports facilities, sports and recreation centers, bus and railway stations, etc.

Reader was fully developed, designed and produced by employee alone of Digital Logic. The company has already been engaged in development and production of electronic devices and software, for 49 years and D-Logic brand has been constantly advancing, developing new, unique solutions in IT industry. It currently has 40 workers.

New contactless reader was developed upon client’s request and as a unique product it will be competitive in the market. Digital Logic has business relations with more than 200 companies in Serbia and abroad, and it sells its products directly or through web shops worldwide. For the time being, financially speaking, it exports about 20% of production.

INNOVATION

New contactless reader of Digital Logic comprising function reading of 2DQR codes, NFC cards and tags, as well as NFC phone in one place. Thanks to specially developed hardware and software solutions, the device among other things allows a very successful reading of 2DQR codes, even those printed on thin thermal paper and with a bit worse print quality. Special attention was paid to code reading at higher or lower intensities of ambient light, which makes this device applicable in any environment.

His versatility and innovation, among other things includes reading of NFC and MIFARE contactless cards and tags, a special curiosity is the option of reading NFC tags that mobile phones that support NFC standard simulate. All these options in one place and the way they are integrated make this reader currently unique in the world. This significantly facilitates work and reduces cost of a user, because combining all functions allows installation that only one device is installed in a specific object.

Innovation is primarily related to software which is a completely new product whose development is based on experiences with earlier software solutions that the company has developed in the past

A reader uses algorithms which prevent QR codes copying, it has time limits per use of maps and uses Black lists for preventing use of one card more than once. The Black lists are downloaded via RF communication which a reader can establish with other devices within the system control i.e. ticket sales.

Further integration options of the reader to other electronic systems are almost limitless, especially if you take into account the possibility of reading NFC phone and wireless communication with other devices in the environment. Besides that, unit housing of a device is designed and produced on 3D printers so that in a short time it is possible to adjust size and shape required for installation in existing devices and operating environments.

NFC 2DQR barcode reader increases security because registration of passengers on an electronic system with a single database increases safety, is environmentally acceptable and economically remunerative device for the community since it increases percentage of charge in buildings or vehicles where it is used. A combined reading of function 2DQR codes, NFC cards and tags and NFC phone in one place allows you to install one particular device instead of three which significantly facilitates work and reduces user’s costs.

Reader was fully developed, designed and manufactured by engineers of Digital Logic (Serbian “know-how " ) , which employs 40 workers . D – Logic is normally produced in completely local business system that provides design and design of electronic systems and accompanying software, production and quality control, as well as implementation, user training and maintenance.

By developing new, unique solutions in IT industry, and at the same time improving quality and expertise of its employees, the company encourages development of local community in Pozarevac . Also, Digital Logic organizes practical training for students of the Technical school in this town, as well as students of technical universities who often find job in this company.

Apart from employees in the head office in Pozarevac, Digital Logic has its own staff in other towns across Serbia as well, who are engaged in maintenance of equipment and systems in use.

FINANCIAL POTENTIAL

NFC 2DQR BARCODE READER was made upon the request of Digital Logic’s client which previously used standalone readers, for monthly tickets in vehicles, records in sports centers or work time control. New contactless reader, combining multiple features in one place, apart from multi-functions does not require special adjustments but is immediately integrated into the system to work, saving time and resources of users. With all its advantages in the market, the device will undoubtedly be competitive.

The device is widely used wherever there is a need for access control, presence records or physical barrier that opens with a user activity: in museums, concert halls, sports facilities, sports and recreation centers, bus and railway stations, etc. The first prototypes were successfully tested during 2015 within ticketing and access control system at the swimming pools, where it was used in combination with pedestrian barriers. Preliminary tests on electronic ticket sale in public transport have shown that this device can be successfully used to control access of passengers on platforms of bus operators.

On the average, they export 100-150 devices per month, both individual purchases through the web shop or direct contacts with which they cooperate. They sold their devices sold from US to Singapore and China, while they are still most present at EU market.

Financially, they export about 20% of production.
