Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic met Tuesday with Jeremy Remacha, the CEO of SR Technics from Switzerland which overhauls passenger aircraft and is relocating its operations from Zurich to Belgrade.
Vucit noted at that meeting that Serbia required more companies that would employ young professionals, inviting foreign investors to move their business to Serbia to increase profits and obtain quality manpower.
The prime minister of Serbia reminded that the company's shared services center in Serbia employed 120 workers at the moment, that it would have 220 employees by the year's end and hire additional 50 in 2017, as well as that 80% of workers were young people under the age of 40. According to him, salaries are twice as big as the average wage in Serbia, amounting to about EUR 1,000.
He voiced his hope that aside from opening a shared services center, the Swiss company would also expand its business to Serbia, adding that it would mean a lot for Serbia if narrow-body aircraft could be maintained here because that could be a crucial deal at the moment, bringing Serbia a revenue that might even exceed the proceeds of Air Serbia's operations.
SR Technics is one of the world's largest companies that maintain, repair and overhaul passenger aircraft. It has a capacity to maintain most of the Airbus and Boeing aircraft. The company employs about 3,300 workers worldwide.
SR Technics is headquartered at the airport in Zurich, and it has branch offices in Geneva, Ireland, Malta, France, Great Britain, Spain, Australia, and Malaysia. The company also has its sales offices in Florida, Mumbai, Singapore, Sidney and Shanghai, as well as training centers in Zurich and Abu Dhabi.
