Austrian "Merkur osiguranje" officially started with work in Serbia

The oldest insurance company in Austria, "Merkur", has officially started with work on the market of Serbia after it previously obtained license from the National Bank of Serbia.

According to the words of manager Miodrag Kvrgić, Serbian market has great potential. There are 20 insurance companies on the market and average premium per capita amounts to 62 EUR, which is much below the average in central and east Europe - 183 EUR.

"Merkur", which starts business in Serbia by offering products from the field of life insurance and insurance from the consequences of accidents, already offers unique product "MTB-10 plus", which includes life insurance and additional insurance from nine serious diseases, while the children of the insurers have free protection.


With the founding of the company in Serbia, "Merkur" continues expansion in southeast Europe, which it started 15 years ago in Slovenia, Croatia and BiH.

The headquarters of the company is in Graz. This company realized profit in amount of 4.3m EUR in 2006, while the total incomes from the premiums amounted to 286.3m EUR.
