Safety comes first - New building of German embassy will be moved in by the end of 2018

After the building of German embassy in Belgrade was demolished in protests for announcing independency of Kosovo in February 2008, officers of this institution were relocated in the city. Recently, at the old address of the embassy in Knez Milosa street, a billboard appeared showing an old look and the model of future Embassy of Germany.

- For facilities of diplomatic offices, special safety measures are valid, regardless of the fact whether there is a real danger or no, it was stated in a reply to our newspaper from the Embassy of Germany. As they add, headquarters of the Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany will, after completion of the works on new facility, be again at prestigious address in Knez Milosa street.

Professor at the Faculty of political sciences and expert for terrorism, Dragan Simeunovic, says for Danas that it’s been a long time since states competed which one will have nicer embassy building but that safety comes first now.
