Ore transporter at Zelezara Smederevo crashes - Production (was not) halted

A transporter for ore and high furnace filling crashed at Zelezara Smederevo at Agglomeration department so production was put on halt, Politika finds out from unofficial sources in Serbian steel plant. Luckily, at the moment of the accident, no one was near since it was a lunch time so the machine some thirty meters high and 50 meters wide went without the injured ones, Politika also finds out unofficially.

HPK management is silent about it since employees did not receive any official information about that either apart from an order that they do not approach the location for safety reasons.

As Politika unofficially finds out, High furnace 1 has not been operational for a while. It has been set at “silent mode” soon after September saw pompous putting into operation Furnace 2 in the presence of the Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic. There were then speculations on shutting it doen, allegedly, for overhaul, Politika wrote about but steel plant management neglected it.

Trade union leaders have not respond to call of Politika today.

Zelezara: Minor incident, there is no effect on production

On the other hand, Zelezara Smederevo communicates for Tanjug that a few days ago, a transporter for ore crashed and that there were no the injured ones in the incident which will not have more significant effects on production.
