ANTIC: 2016 to see a total of EUR 140 m for investments and overhaul in Mine Basin Kolubara

In his visit to open pit mines Barosevac at Mine Basin Kolubara, Antic said that in discussions with the management in Kolubara he received confirmation of what the Ministry has already estimated which is that it takes much more investments in mining sector.

- In line with the business plan for 2016, we will have app. EUR 140 m for investments and maintenance i.e. overhauls in Kolubara. I think EPS will pour these funds smartly in further operations and strengthening of mining sector – Antic outlined.

The minister said that one “glodar” produces 20% coal in Kolubara and when this is transferred into electricity, it is 12% of Serbian electricity.

- This machine deserves top maintenance, overhauls. Safety and security for our energy system depends on a few these machines like this one is – Antic underlined, adding that planned investments are the sign of security that energy system will be completely stable.

He defined priorities for further production development with key people of all pit mines in Kolubara, talked about implementation of public procurement and outlined that miners should be awarded in a way since they work under the most difficult terms.

- We will have a few warmer days and in that period EPS and EMS will improve system and prepare for new waves of cold weather and snow which are waiting for us – Antic concluded.
