At the end of October, Serbia's public debt 74,1% GDP

At the end of October 2015, Serbia’s public debt totalled EUR 24,32 billion which is 74,1% gross domestic product (GDP), the Ministry of Finance has published today. Compared to September, public debt increased by app. EUR 260 m.

Total direct commitments of the state totaled EUR 21,9 billion in October and indirect EUR 2,4 billion.


At the end of 2014, Serbia’ public debt totaled EUR 22,76 billion i.e. 70,9% GDP while at the end of 2013, it totaled EUR 20,14 billion with 59,6% in GDP-u.



In late 2000, public debt totaled EUR 14,17 billion EUR or 201,2% GDP and the lowest level of public debt was in 2008 when it totaled EUR 8,78 billion EUR or 28,3% GDP.

The Law on budget system governs that public debt participates up to 45% in GDP.
