Cuban vaccine is coming to Serbia by the end of October

Vaccine from Cuba against lung cancer "cimavax EFG" will arrive to Serbia until the end of the month, it was confirmed yesterday for Novosti at the Ministry of Health. In the first round 1.680 treatment dosages have been provided for 30 patients which they will get for free in three health institutions: Clinic for lungs diseases KCS, CHC Bezanijska kosa and the Institute for lungs diseases in Sremska Kamenica.

In the meantime, the Ministry communicates that formal signing of the contract with the Institute CIMAB from Havana should end. The Torlak institute will be the official importer.

The vaccine which is not a vaccine in a full sense of the word since it is not given as a prevention is applied in the stadium of final lung cancer stages from which 6.300 people suffer from annually in Serbia.

Cimavax EFG enters Serbia, in line with extraordinary procedure, as non-registered medicine which provides our patients to have this therapy as soon as possible. Cuban vaccine is at the moment being tested in more European countries and the third stage of clinical studies has been in progress.

It may be a gift

Before contract signing, the Ministry of Health does not want to reveal financial details of cooperation with Cuban institute. Unofficially, they have mentioned though that there is an option that Serbia gets the first 1.680 dosages as a gift. Treatment with cimavax in Cuba costs EUR 7000 per patient.
