Serbian-Iran business chamber set up - Opportunity for development of business cooperation of two countries, especially in agriculture

The start of work of the Serbian-Iran business chamber is a great opportunity for businessmen of two countries to cooperate in many fields, especially in agriculture, it was outlined at the official presentation of the chamber held on Friday at the residence of the ambassador of Iran in Serbia.

President of the chamber, dr. Maja Timotijevic, idea on set up of the chamber emerged a year and a half ago and that due to political situation it was not the right moment and that the events over the that few months contributed to the terms for official set up of the Serbian-Iran business chamber.

- It is our great pleasure that we will work with the country with which there is a long-term friendship and partnership. In Iran, they still remember our large companies which used to operate there and we are sure we will have very good cooperation and friend. Apart from that, we hope we will open doors to Serbian companies to work in Iran and vice versa to Iran companies interested in coming to Serbia, to invest or sell goods – Timotijevic said in her addressing the guests.

As she added, every company which is interested in cooperation with Iran can address us and the chamber will find an adequate partner in Iran.

- Therefore we set up the chamber, to bridge Serbia and Iran, find partners, connect people and companies. This is the basic objective, she outlined and added that Serbian companies, Indas, Mile Dragic, Ecotip Tedex, Energoprojekt, Delta Holding, Delta Agrar and Aroma already joined.

The ambassador of Iran in Serbia, Majid Fahim Pour, sad that the set up leaves plenty of room and that now it is up to businessmen from Serbia and Iran to cooperate and find solution in all areas, especially agriculture.

Deputy minister of agriculture of Iran, Abass Keshavarz, who was visiting Serbia for a few days, explained that one of the main objectives of the delegation is that Iran private sector in the field of agriculture gets to know as good as possible with options, potentials and capacities of Serbia in agriculture so that, mutually, space for better cooperation of two countries would be provided.

He added the Draft of the Memorandum on cooperation in the field of phyto-sanitary plant protection, was submitted by the Iran delegation to Serbian Ministry of agriculture and environmental protection and that the ministry replied the Draft is acceptable and that soon details are expected to be agreed.
