According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Amazon plans to release a 6-inch tablet in time for this year's Christmas shopping season, which will be priced at as low as USD 50 in the United States.
It is nearly half the price of currently the cheapest 6-inch tablet offered by Amazon - Fire HD, which costs USD 99 only, and it will also be among the cheapest tablets in the whole market. In addition to this model from the lowest price rank, Amazon is allegedly preparing to release 8-inch and 10-inch tablets as well.
According to WSJ, the reason for this move lies in the fact that Amazon is having difficulties placing expensive devices in the market and is now willing to try offering cheaper tablets of lower quality to increase the share in already oversaturated market.
WSJ also says that Amazon is working on a voice-controlled computer for kitchen use in its secret hardware sector Lab126. The code name of this new device is Cabinet.
