Carmeuse, a global leader in lime production that operates in Serbia since 2013, when it took over the Serbian lime manufacturer Jelen Do, has opened an office in Belgrade, thus continuing to invest in the region, showing it has long-term plans for it.

Since it came to Serbia in 2013, Carmeuse has invested EUR 9.6 million and it continues to continuously invests in security and improvement of production standards by supplying key industries in the country, which earned the company the status of reliable partner to Serbia's industrial development, it was said at a press conference in the new office of that company in Belgrade.

- Carmeuse is a world's leading lime manufacturer, and this investment in Serbia is in line with our continuous efforts to expand the network of production facilities. Investment in Jelen Do is long term, and we are determined to resume work on the improvement of operations and economic environment in Serbia and the region in cooperation with our partners, which we see as a strategic expansion - said Julian Danvers, Carmeuse Europe Sales and Marketing Vice President.

Dejan Jancic, the director of Jelen Do in Serbia, reminded that Carmeuse was particularly proud of its EUR 1.5 million investment in the new Maerz lime kiln that was put into operation in early 2015.

Speaking about investment plans for the next five years, Jancic said that the priority was to raise the awareness of industrial safety and ecology.

As he added, the plan for the next five years is to invest EUR 1.5 million in creating necessary conditions for obtaining an integrated license, EUR 1.5 million in the modernization of rock micronizer, and EUR 1 million in the lime production facility.

As early as in 2015, the company will invest EUR 2.5 million in an alternative fuel production plant, it was stressed at the conference.
