Shortage of bullocks for Europe - small chances for Serbia to reach sufficient quota for duty-free export to EU

- The chances are small that Serbia will manage to export 8,700 tons of veal to European Union free of duty, because there are only 20,000 quality bullocks being fattened at the moment - says Vojislav Stanković, the associate of the Center for Scientific-Research Work in Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.
Stanković points out that 100,000 bullocks are required for Serbia to reach quota for duty-free export. Initial problem with the shortage of slaughterhouses with the EU licenses for export has been solved, but there is still problem with the shortage of bullocks.
In addition to duty-free export of 8,700 tons of veal worth 30m EUR to EU, after the fourth round of negotiations about Agreement on stabilization and EU joining, Božidar Đelić, Deputy Prime Minister of Government of Serbia, also announced the annual quota for export of 180,000 tons of sugar worth 120m EUR.
