Landfill construction in Subotica starts June 2015

The first phase of construction of Regional Landfill in Subotica should commence June, and the whole project could be finished 28 January 2017. This was discussed at a meeting between the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the City of Subotica and the EU, which was held in the northernmost city in Serbia.
- For the construction of Regional Waste Management Center, a total of EUR 21 million was provided by the EU through the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) in 2012, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection has set aside EUR 3.2 million for the procurement of equipment for public utility companies, while local self-governments should provide EUR 984,000 for the construction of recycling yards - said State Secretary Stana Bozovic.
Bozovic stressed that the construction of Regional Landfill would solve the problem of municipal waste management in Subotica, Backa Topola, Mali Idjos, Coka, Kanjiza, Senta and Novi Knezevac, where a total of 280,000 people live.
Contractors are IBI IDROBIOIMPIANTI from Italy, Instel Inzenjering from Novi Sad, and Set from Sabac.
