By Monday, the Energy Agency of Serbia (AERS) did not receive the proposal of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia for electricity price change and according to the law, new price becomes effective 30 days as of publication in the Official Gazette, the agency communicated for Beta agency.

It means that electricity price in Serbia will not be able to go up as of April 1, which is what the Government of Serbia committed by signing the agreement with IMF.

As AERS said, the process of giving consent of the AERS Council at the electricity price request does not have to take long since data are regularly monitored and analyzed.

- Since the Agency regularly monitors and analyze data of energy entities whose activities are regulated, in this case of EPS, the process of finalizing the check of request to approval of the Council, do not have to take long time– AERS said.

Serbia committed in the agreement with IMF to increase electricity price by 15% as of April 1, including the excise amount which will be implemented.

According to the announcement of the minister of finance, Dusan Vujovic, electricity excise will total 0,5 dinars per KWH.
