Rehabilitation of Ruma-Golubinci railroad started


The works on the reconstruction and modernization of the Ruma-Golubinci railroad at the railway Corridor 10 funded through Russian loan have started today in Golubinci and deadline for completion is September this year.
It is the reconstruction of the right gauge at the railroad where the speed of trains after the works end will increase from 30 to 120 kilometers per hour; it was said at the opening of works.
GM at Zeleznica Srbije (Railways of Serbia), Miroslav Stojcic, said after the opening that this is the second section funded through the Russian loan, reminding that the works on the Belgrade-Pancevo railroad have already been in progress.
GM at the Russian state-owned railways, RZD International, Sergey Pavlov said the company will continue implementing projects in Serbia and that modern Russian machines will be engaged at the Ruma-Golubinci section.
The works for all three sections at the north part of the Corridor 10 total USD 48,7 m and they comprise the Ruma - Golubinci, Sopot kosmajski - Kovacevac and Velika plana - Mala krsna sections. It is expected that in the next period the works will begin on two other sections.
The works are funded through the Russian state-owned loan for modernization of Serbian railways totaling USD 800 m.
Some 18 kilometers will be reconstructed at an open railroad and four at the Putinci station where four new turnarounds will be installed. Six road crossings through both gauges will also be reconstructed and contact network, signal and security and telegraph and phone equipment will be revitalized.
