January 15, Belgrade to host delegation of German meat industry, Tonnies


Delegation of German meat industry, Tonnies, will talk tomorrow in Belgrade with representatives of authorized governmental institutions about the plans for development of cattle production and meat processing in Serbia, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce announced.
After the visit of the Serbian Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, to Germany in Septmeber 2014, and the meeting with the owner of German Tonnies, Klemens Tonnies, the German meat industry announced it is still interested in investing EUR 200 m in opening production department in Serbia and pigs breeding.
Tonnies’ investment, as it was told then, could provide in two years production of million pigs.
Tonnies started as a family company and today it has 8000 people. It annually processes 17 million pigs and half of the production is exported. The company’s annual turnover totals EUR 5,6 billion which makes it the first-ranked in Germany.
