Mines in Bor and Majdapnpek should, through stage modernization and production boost, in two years, provide planned copper concentrate quantity essential for processing in this smelter.

Pyro-metallurgy facility whose construction ended December 23, 2014 has the capacity to process 400 thousand tons of copper concentrate per year and production capacity of 80 thousand tons of copper.

It is planned that in the beginning, apart from domestic, it processes import concentrate as well thanks to modern technology which provides lower price of metallurgic copper processing, profit of RTB "Bor" should increase for USD 12 m annually, GM at Mining and smelter basin Bor, Blagoje Spaskovski said for Tanjug

In two years, when according to the plan there should be sufficient copper concentrate from Bor mines, financial effect of new smelter will increase for USD 24 m per year.

- Mining development is our primary objective for 2015. The objective is bigger participation of RTB in Serbia’s GDP. Investing in mining, primarily in Cerovo 2 and Cerovo primarni, Coka Marin and Borska reka, the next task is a challenge as well - Spaskovski said.

He added that through involvement of majority strategic partner for these three ore findings or investor, RTB, after stepping out of the restructuring will start privatization process in mining field.

Spaskovski specified they will finish "Krivelj" in six months and that annual processing will increase to 10,6 m tons of ore.

- In nine months, in Cerovo, we will boost capacity to 5,5 do m tons of ore, and in Majdanpek, apart from all the problems it encountered, it will increase processing at 8,5 m tons of ore per year. The opening of Cerovo primarno, in a year and a half of effective operations, we will provide additional 11,5 m tons of ore – Spaskovski said.
