Project completed for highway through Kosovo – investment worth 650m EUR

- Company “Proing" has completed the project for construction of highway on Kosovo and Metohia, from Vrbnica to Merdare, and handed it yesterday (May 7, 2007) to the Ministry of Transportation of Kosovo – Priština’s Albanian media announced.

According to the estimates, construction of highway about 150 km long, from the border with Albania to the administrative line between central Serbia and Kosovo, will cost more than 650m EUR.

Minister of Transportation and Postal Communications of Kosovo and Metohia, Chemajl Ahmeti, said that it was up to the Ministry and the Government to determine further procedure.

- We hope that, if there is no problem with the ownership, marking out of the road will start this year, but everything will depend on the way in which financial means are provided – said Ahmeti and added that 35% of the route of the future highway was public property, while 64% was private.
