South Stream is dead – Russia cannot continue gas pipeline construction


The project of South Stream gas pipeline construction is "dead", the executive manager of the Russian gas giant Gazprom said on Monday, December 1, 2014.
- The project is cancelled. That’s it – Sergey Miller said to journalists in
Moscow, and Reuters agency reported.
His comment followed the announcement of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin,
that Russia cannot continue the South Stream project implementation as for now
due to EU opposing.
- As for now, Russia cannot continue the South Stream project implementation since
Bulgaria blocked construction of subsea section.
Taking into account the fact that so far we have not received permit from
Bulgaria, we believe that in current situation Russia cannot continue project implementation
- Putin said at the mutual conference with
Turkish president, Tajip Erdogan in Ankara,
France press agency reported.
- If Europe does not want to implement the South Stream project, then it will not
be implemented – the Russian president said, alluding at the fact that EC is not ready to provide “green
light ”for the project where Russian gas would be delivered to SE countries,
retouring Ukraine.
