Brankica Stankovic wins journalistic Oscar

The author of Insider, Brankica Stankovic, won a prestigious world Award for courage which was delivered to her at the last year’s ceremony in New York, B92 announced.
The World award for courage in journalism in America is recognizable as a journalistic Oscar awarded by the International women’s media foundation which has been dealing with strengthening the role of women in information media worldwide for 25 years.
Every year, an award for courage in journalism is given to three journalists who showed extraordinary strength of character doing their job in difficult or dangerous conditions such as pressures of the authorities, threats based on personal security and other obstacles.
This year’s winners are a CNN reporter from war region, Arva Damon and the editor of Le Souverain Solange Lusiku Nsimir from Congo.
So far, the winners have been among others, killed Russian journalist, Ana Politkovskaja, Christian Amanpur and Barbara Walters.
After the award ceremony in New York, in a few days the winners will present themselves in Los Angeles at the ceremony which aims at increasing awareness of importance of independent journalism.
